
On Wednesday afternoon, the Cardinals played the Thundering Herd of Marshall University. This was the final home game of the season. The Cards jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning with a single by senior Jena Jordan. Nicole Pufahl helped lead the charge in the bottom of the 3rd plating 2 runs & scoring on an error. The Cards led 4-0.
Marshall led up the top of the 4th with a solo home run. Sidney Melton scored Allison Szydlowski in the fourth inning. She was able to scored on an error to make it 6-1. The Thundering Herd stormed back in the top of 5th scoring 9 runs leading 10-6 going into the bottom of the 5th.
The Cards answered with a 7 run inning of their own. Sidney Melton was hit by a pitch with bases loaded scoring Riley Schindler 10-7 Thundering Herd. Then player of the week Megan Hensley hit a grand slam this causing the lead up 11-10. Nicole Pufahl also connected on a 2 Run Home Run. The 7 run fifth inning proved to be the difference for the Cardinals as they were victorious 13-10. Junior Megan Hensley picked up the win her 4th in the last 4 games.
