Louisville vs Nicholls: Pregame Breakdown

Tonight at 7pm, the seemingly long-awaited Louisville-led Chris Mack era begins against Nicholls inside the Yum! Center. The Cards currently are 19-point favorites and the game can be watched on the ACCNetwork.

Nicholls enters this game 1-0 with a win over MS College 86-58. However, the game was tied 35-35 at halftime. Nicholls was led by a 28-point performance from guard Jeremiah Jefferson.

I expect Louisville’s starting lineup to feature Christen Cunningham, Darius Perry, VJ King, Jordan Nwora, and Steven Enoch. That’s the lineup the Cards started in both their exhibition games. Louisville brings in a new defensive philosophy from the old matchup-zone days. Chris Mack runs a similar Packline defense to Virginia, but extends the defense out further than the Cavaliers.

The dawn of a new age of Cardinal basketball is upon us. Everyone involved with the program (fans included) have been through some hard times over the past few years, but there’s no time like the present to begin anew. Fill the Yum! early, follow Chris Mack’s request to have the lower bowl on Sicko Mode, and welcome a new era of Louisville basketball in proper fashion.

Louisville 74 – Nicholls 59.

Go Cards!
