The Louisville Cardinals topped visiting Southern tonight with the final scoring reading: 104-54.
Overall, the game was a foul fest. 39 personal fouls were called on Southern and another 26 personal fouls were credited to Louisville. On top of the 65 total personal fouls, each team received 2 technical fouls. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that I wish the referees would swallow their whistles a bit more often.
Louisville was led tonight with career highs from Jordan Nwora and Malik Williams. Nwora finished the game with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Williams’ new career high sits at 17 points, he also had 5 rebounds. Darius Perry and Steven Enoch both had 13 points. Ryan McMahon was the facilitator tonight, leading the team with 6 assists and 0 turnovers.
The Cardinals took a step forward tonight. Despite the level of opponent, Louisville improved in all the areas they needed to and executed much better on both ends tonight. Chris Mack now sits at 2-0 going into a tough slate of games ahead in the NIT Tip-Off.
Up next: Louisville takes on Vermont in the last of the campus games before the real NIT Tip-Off begins. The game is on Friday at 7pm inside the Yum! Center.
