New UofL Football Head Coach Scott Satterfield has been busy remaking and reshaping the UofL Football program, namely by putting together his new staff. The newest reported member is NC State OL coach Dwayne Ledford. This new edition may also lead to the first new commit of the Scott Satterfield era; a prospect at a position of need.

2019 4 Star OT prospect Triston Miller decommitted from NC State last night. Miller is a 6’6 275 lbs Under Armour All-American, with other offers from UNC, USC, and UK, among others per 247sports.

Ledford was the secondary recruiter of Miller at NC State and, obviously, would have been his position coach there. It seems there is a correlation between Miller’s decision to decommit and reports of Ledford leaving NC State for UofL. If that’s the case, it stands to reason Miller and Ledford likely have a good relationship. However, Miller isn’t simply going to flip to UofL because of that.

According to Bud Elliott of SB Nation, he is going to definitely visit USC and UNC, but he also wants to try to visit FSU and the school Ledford is coming to in UofL.

Landing a guy like Miller would help UofL’s football program immensely. It would be immediate quality depth for the new staff at a position of need, while also being a signal to fans that Satterfield does have the recruiting chops for a Power 5 program.

Obviously there is work to do. Miller was never on UofL’s radar previously. He currently holds no offer from the school per 247sports. This, in all likelihood, will change once Ledford is officially on board and if Miller does indeed visit.

The new UofL staff will have to really work and dazzle him on his potential visit. This isn’t going to be an easy flip by any stretch of the imagination. However, having the coach that it appears Miller has a good relationship with on UofL’s staff is an ace in the hole no one can ignore.
