UofL is looking to add a quality QB to the group they currently have; a group that includes Jawon Pass, Malik Cunningham, and December signee Evan Conley. They have mainly been searching the grad transfer and transfer ranks, but have still kept an eye on high school seniors as well. Enter Blaze McKibbin.

McKibbin, a 2019 QB out of West Lake Village, CA, is a big QB at 6’5 210 lbs. As of now, he does not hold an offer from UofL. However, the fact he is visiting shows there’s at least mutual interest between the parties. McKibbin holds offers from Cincinnati, Nevada, San Jose State, and Louisiana and is a 3 Star QB per 247sports.

McKibbin is quite a talented QB. When I first saw he was a pro-style QB, I was shocked UofL would be looking at him as Satterfield’s offense is more conducive to a dual-threat QB. However, McKibbin has quite a bit of mobility and runs some zone read. He’s a relatively effective runner. No, he’s not likely going to break off huge runs like Lamar Jackson or Malik Cunningham, but he will get chunks of 5-12 yards while occasionally breaking a 20 yard run.

McKibbins’ real value is as a passer. He has a strong-arm and can make every type of throw you can imagine pretty accurately. He’s also very good at making throws on the move which should bode well in Satterfield’s offense.

McKibbin seems like he is an underrated talent. He runs well enough to be effective in the zone read for Satterfield. He throws an excellent ball which, combined with the WR talent and the play action passing Satterfield likes to use, should make him pretty prolific for UofL if he’s offered a scholarship and chooses to come here. This is an intriguing prospect for Cards fans to keep an eye on.
