Preview: Louisville at Syracuse

CSZ BBALL

Louisville travels to the Carrier Dome for a matchup with the Syracuse Orange on Wednesday night. Louisville comes off a much-needed 1-point win against Clemson on Saturday. The Cards are now 9-4 in the ACC. Syracuse sits at 8-4 in conference play after dropping a road matchup to NC State on Saturday.

Syracuse has three players averaging over 13 points per game, and that does not include Frank Howard (8.4) who scored 22 at the Yum Center last season in Syracuse’s 78-73 victory. Jordan Nwora leads Louisville in both scoring (17.5) and rebounding (7.7).

Syracuse has a win over Duke on the road last month, but aside from that game it hasn’t beaten an ACC team with a winning record. Louisville has lost 3 out of 5 and plays Virginia on Saturday.

It has been a rough couple weeks for this Cardinal basketball program and this is a winnable road game that could help build their confidence moving forward.

You know Syracuse is going to be a long team that will try and stop you with their zone. Louisville has plenty of experience against Syracuse, but this is Chris Mack’s first ever game against Jim Boeheim and the Orange.

I’m interested to see how coach plans on attacking the zone. The most important thing for Louisville tonight will be holding onto the ball. Turnovers have played such a big role in the Cards’ recent struggles, and Syracuse will use that blueprint tonight especially if Louisville extends a lead late.

Syracuse is currently favored by 2 points. The game starts at 7:00 ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Prediction:

Louisville 68 Syracuse 63
