The Louisville Cardinals struggled again in a 69-49 loss at Syracuse on Wednesday Night. Louisville falls to 18-9 overall and 9-5 in the ACC. Syracuse improved to 18-8 and 9-4.
Elijah Hughes had 18 points and 7 rebounds for Syracuse; Oshae Brissett added 16 and 7 for the Orange. Jordan Nwora led Louisville with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Louisville struggled from the start offensively, and found themselves down 16 in the first half before making it 35-23 at the break. They followed with another uninspiring half of basketball, and the game was hardly in question at any point in the 2nd half. Any time the Cardinals even remotely gained momentum, Syracuse had an answer. Louisville looked like they had no idea what to do with Syracuse’s zone. The Cards shot 26 percent from the field on only 14 made shots. They made only 6 of 28 three point attempts, and that includes 2 deep three pointers in garbage time by Khwan Fore in the final minute.
That’s now 4 losses in 6 games for Coach Chris Mack and Louisville. There are still 4 games remaining on the regular season schedule, but it doesn’t get any easier from here. The ACC is probably the toughest conference in the nation and Louisville has had one of the toughest league schedules, but you’ve got to find a way to string together some wins before heading into the postseason.
