The tournament marks the second year in a row that Louisville will play an out-of-conference game in the Big Apple. Last year, the Cardinals played in the preseason NIT in Brooklyn, losing both games to Tennessee and Marquette.
Louisville has competed twice in the Jimmy V Classic. They defeated Indiana in 2014, and lost to Arizona in 2006.
As of right now, the matchups for the Jimmy V Classic are yet to be determined. Louisville would be playing Texas Tech for the first time ever, if the two schools were to meet. U of L and Indiana played last season in Bloomington, wrapping up a three-game series with the Hoosiers narrowly taking a 68-67 win. Louisville and UConn would be playing for the first time since 2014, when the Cards defeated the Huskies in the American Athletic Conference tournament finals.
