Charlie Creme released his Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25 and the Louisville Cardinals are in the Top 10.
The Cardinals graduated three starters in Asia Durr, Sam Fuehring and Arica Carter. The winningest class in program history, the trio combined for roughly half of Louisville’s scoring last season.
With the Cardinals losing that much offensive power, it comes as no shock that Charlie Creme has Louisville projected at preseason # 8.
Despite the tremendous loss, the Cardinals have a great upside; especially if Georgia Tech transfers, Elizabeth Dixon and Elizabeth Balogun, are granted waivers by the NCAA to play immediately.
Balogun was named ACC Rookie of the Year just a season ago. The freshman averaged 14.6 points per game for the Yellow Jackets. Dixon averaged 11 points per game. The pair, along with Louisville veterans, Bionca Dunham, Kylee Shook, Jazmine Jones and Dana Evans, will be able to make up for the scoring lost with the departure of Asia Durr.
The Cardinals also return Yacine Diop. Diop suffered a torn ACL early last season. Prior to injury, the grad transfer notched a double-double against WKU in the season opener.
