Javian Hawkins Earns A Weekly ACC Honor

Redshirt freshman RB Javian Hawkins has been a workhorse for Louisville Football this season. He continued his hard running and consistent excellence with a stellar game against Virginia. His performance earned him the ACC Rookie of the Week award.

Hawkins carried the ball 28 times for 136 yards and 2 TDs. He averaged 4.9 yards per carry. His play has arguably been the backbone of the offense and he is starting to show up on the national radar.

On the season, Hawkins has carried the ball 165 times for 887 yards and 6 TDs. That averages out to 5.4 yards per carry. He is seeking to reach the 1000 yard rushing mark for the season. It seems he will likely get it as he only needs 113 yards in the next four games to achieve the mark. If he reaches 1000 yards, he will be the first UofL RB since Bilal Powell to have a 1000 yard rushing season.

Congrats to Javian on this honor. This is his second time earning an ACC Weekly honor. He was named ACC Running Back of the Week after his performance against Boston College.
