Louisville Football’s defense will be missing a key piece when they take the field against UK on Saturday. Coach Scott Satterfield told assembled media at his weekly press conference that sophomore S Russ Yeast was injured against Syracuse and will not be available for the game.

Coach Satterfield did not disclose the specific type of injury, but it appears it was some type of knee injury. Satterfield advised that Yeast had a procedure to repair whatever the injury is. In addition to keeping Yeast out of the Kentucky game, it is likely to keep him out of the bowl game as well.
Satterfield added that Yeast probably won’t be available for the bowl game. Said he’d surely be ready for the spring, but a month might be too soon.

While Trenell Troutman is listed as Yeast’s backup, Coach Satterfield mentioned that Arizona grad transfer Isaiah Hayes will likely be the key guy taking over for the injured Yeast.
Scott Satterfield says without Russ Yeast that Arizona grad transfer Isaiah Hayes "will have the biggest role" that he's had this season for the Cards.

It is a huge blow to Louisville’s defense right before the big rivalry game. Yeast has played well this year and has a good grasp of the Bryan Brown defense. It is a big blow to the depth of a position that isn’t the deepest on the team as well. Hopefully, guys like Troutman and Hayes can fill the void left by Yeast’s absence.
We here at CSZ wish Russ Yeast a speedy recovery and hope to see him playing again as soon as he is healthy enough to do so.
