Pregame Breakdown: Cards Look For Season Sweep in Atlanta

The Louisville Cardinals are off to their best start in conference play in over 50 seasons. Louisville has won 10 straight games since losing to Florida State at home on January 4th. On Wednesday night, the Cards will travel to Georgia Tech looking to make it 11.

Louisville comes into the matchup 21-3 overall and in first place in the ACC at 12-1. Georgia Tech is 8-12 and 5-8. The Yellow Jackets gave the Cards a real test on January 22nd in a 68-64 Louisville win. Georgia Tech led by 6 at halftime and held a double digit lead in the second half. Leading scorer Michael Devoe (16.2 pts, 3.8 reb, 3.2 ast per game) led all scorers with 21 points.

You could argue that Georgia Tech took advantage of a hungover Louisville squad fresh off of a thrilling win at Duke the previous weekend. Tech has been a tough matchup in the ACC this season though. They’ve beaten UNC once and NC State twice. They also played Virginia and Duke close. All things considered, it is fairly impressive what Georgia Tech has been able to do against good teams this season. They are still among the worst teams in the conference, but the Yellow Jackets are more than capable of stealing a win on the right night.

The win over Virginia on Saturday was big for Louisville’s confidence moving forward. This is a team that knows it can finish off anyone. Winning on the road in conference play is not easy. Louisville has made it look easy, though. The Cards have won all six of their away games in ACC play this season. This team has not looked unbeatable, but they’ve passed every test thrown at them for over a month now. Louisville will look to maintain that momentum on Wednesday night in Atlanta.

The game tips at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be televised live on ACC Network.

Prediction:

Louisville 75  Georgia Tech 66
