And Another One Joins The Flock As Cards Pick Up 3 Star DE Victoine Brown

The University of Louisville just got themselves another commitment for the 2021 class. Elite and versatile Georgia DE Victoine Brown decided to pledge his commitment to Louisville this morning.

Brown is 6’4 225 pounds and had over two dozen offers. His offers were from schools such as Florida (who, with Todd Grantham, was considered the early leader), South Carolina (who was recently at top his list), LSU, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan State and Notre Dame to name a few.

Victoine Brown is rated a 3 star on all major recruiting boards. The 29th rated Strong side DE, per 247sports composite rankings, has some nice flexibility that helps him in pass rushing situations. Brown uses his long arms to create and keep separation from oncoming blockers in route to quarterbacks. I love the way Brown uses his eyes and feet to move diagonally to hit gaps to tackle ball carriers.

Brown has a quick first step that often times allows him to go unblocked and unfettered into the backfield. He’s explosive off the snap of the ball, which is something this Louisville staff has placed a high value on for DL prospects. The other thing they value highly is a high motor. He is a very high motor player, constantly trying to bring down whomever has the ball until the play is over. He never gives up.

Brown exhibits all his skills in one particular play during his highlights. It’s the very last play  featured. Brown beats the tackle easily on the tackle’s outside shoulder. It’s a pass play, but his backfield penetration, as well as the pocket collapsing from other defenders getting in the backfield, force the QB to run. A RB helps try to block Brown and is successful in hindering him, but not successful enough. Brown is able to chase the QB from behind and from the opposite side of the field and drag him down a yard short of a first down. The speed rush, the ability to shed the block, the power, and the effort were on full display here. This play is quite spectacular and it illustrates, in my mind, why Brown was so highly sought after. In fact, Brown reminds me a bit of former Louisville great Dwayne White when watching it.

Folks, your Louisville coaching staff are incredible. They went up against some of the big dogs and came away with a stud. Coach Satterfield and his staff are in on some pretty high character and elite players in this year’s class. Here is hoping to hear some more good news from our Cardinal athletic programs during these troubling times. #GoCards
