Councilwoman Donna Purvis (D-5) is partnering with the Russ Smith Foundation, Louisville attorney Nick Wilson, and Metro Parks to renovate the basketball court at Lannan Memorial Park, located in the Portland area near the McAlpin Locks on the Ohio River. The project includes expanding the court to regulation size and will incorporate a mural of Miss Taylor when completed.
“Basketball has opened many doors for me, and I’m fortunate to give back to the community through the game I love. My hope is through myself and the massive help of others this project will spread awareness & bring positivity to our community, city, and state,” says Russ Smith, former U of L Basketball All American.
The Russ Smith Foundation is involved in many programs for young people over the years. It encourages young people to excel in all areas of life and has provided help and funding to youth programs since its creation. We appreciate the support of Attorney Nick Wilson and Russ Smith from day one here at CSZ and are very proud of them for their part in this venture.
