Louisville Athletics has had some very special athletes in its storied history. More often than not, they were even better people away from the sport they played. One Cardinal Forever that is truly exemplary of this is Teddy Bridgewater. From Miami, Teddy came to Louisville and lit up the scoreboard with his arm and the city with his smile and demeanor. Teddy overcame so much personally and made his NFL dream come true. Professionally he overcame a horrendous injury and is now the starting QB for the Carolina Panthers. He’s had two very good games in a row and he appears poised to lead the Panthers on a long winning streak. Off the field, Teddy is always giving back in his hometown of Miami. Now, in his new home Charlotte, he’s helping one young QB continue to build his legacy.
A young boy named Landon just had his season cancelled due to Covid-19. Teddy took time to have a zoom call with the young and promising QB. As Teddy speaks with Landon, highlights of Landon playing football are displayed. The video cuts between Teddy and Landon talking and highlights of Landon. Teddy offers Landon to chance to meet him once Covid-19 dies down. He wants to race Landon and thinks he would win. Landon shakes his head emphatically no bringing a slight giggle from Teddy. Eventually, Teddy tells Landon that Academy Sports is giving him a $100 gift card to shop in their stores.
Teddy is one of the most humble and gregarious men in the NFL. He definitely is a great motivator, leader, and truly cares about others. Here he gave a young man who is dealing with the loss of a football season and with the fears of a pandemic a little sunshine and happiness. Teddy is truly a ray of light in dark times. Check out the video from the Carolina Panthers below.
