Gameday Preview: Louisville at Boston College

Time: Noon ET

TV: Fox Sports South

Vegas Line: Louisville -5.5

The Louisville Cardinals (6-1, 1-0)  are on the road Saturday for an afternoon matchup with Boston College (2-6, 0-2).

Louisville narrowly snuck past Kentucky at home last Saturday. Carlik Jones and David Johnson led the way and played like the dangerous scoring duo we saw in November. The Cards nearly threw things away late in the game, but Jones in particular came through when his team needed it, and Louisville got its first win over UK since 2016.

Boston College comes in having just won two games all season, though they have played some good teams very close. The Eagles are a guard heavy squad led by sophomore Wynston Tabbs (15.6 ppg). Fellow sophomore Jay Heath (12.6 ppg) has formed a promising young blackout duo with Tabbs, but Boston College’s huge weakness is inside on both ends. They are among the worst teams in the nation at protecting the rim, and struggle finish at the rim offensively as well. Louisville is probably going to give up some points to the guards, but this is a real opportunity for guys like Jae’Lyn Withers, JJ Traynor or even Dre Davis to have a bit of a bounce back performance after struggling of late.

Boston College is probably going to finish at or near the bottom of the ACC season. It has been over a calendar month now since we have seen this Cardinal team play a complete game. BC is a team you can score against. This is a perfect opportunity for the Louisville offense to get right after looking out of sorts for a couple weeks now.

Prediction:

Louisville 85 Boston College 67
