Gameday Preview: Louisville At Wake Forest

Vegas Line: Louisville -7.5

Probable Lineups:

The Louisville Men’s Basketball team is back in action Wednesday night for a road matchup with Wake Forest. Louisville (3-0) is off to its best start in the ACC since joining the conference in 2014. Wake is 3-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

The Cards have won four straight since their lopsided loss at Wisconsin last month. David Johnson and Carlik Jones have cemented themselves as one of the best backcourt duos in the country. Jones has scored in double figures in all eight of his appearances. Johnson has scored at least 17 points in six of his past seven games.

Wake Forest has lost three straight since winning all of its non-conference games. The Demon Deacons have kept things fairly close in their past two losses against Duke and Virginia though. Wake is one of the smaller teams in the ACC and only has one contributor over 6-foot-8, but they have had some success defending the perimeter, holding opponents to 32-percent from three-point range and averaging nearly 10 steals per game. They have already had 10 different players start a game this season and are one of the nation’s leaders in bench minutes.

Wake Forest is probably the worst team left on the schedule for Louisville. They are tough on the perimeter, but no one has been able to stop this Cards backcourt yet when they’re at full strength. That being said, this is another opportunity for the front court to have a breakout performance. Jae’Lyn Withers is fresh off of a 16 point and 12 rebound game over the weekend. Look for Louisville to get it inside early and often against a Wake defense that struggles to protect the rim.

Prediction:

Louisville 83  Wake Forest 66
