Trailing 6-4 in the eighth inning, Louisville (11-4, 4-2 ACC) got four runs in the frame, including the game winning, three-RBI triple from freshman Christian Knapczyk, to sweep Boston College (9-5, 2-4) with an 8-6 victory.

Henry Davis led Louisville with a 4-for-5 outing at the plate, including a solo homer in the fourth inning that put the Cardinals on the board. Davis, along with Cooper Bowman (2-for-4), Alex Binelas (1-for-4), and Jack Payton (1-for-3), all had doubles in the contest for Louisville, while Knapczyk had the lone triple.

Louisville’s bullpen was key down the stretch for them to secure the win. Garrett Schmeltz had 2.2 shutout innings of work in relief of starter Luke Smith (3.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R), while Jack Perkins (2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 K, 2 BB) was credited with his first win of 2021. Kaleb Corbett continued his hot streak on the mound, delivering a shutout ninth inning to secure his second save of the season.
