Louisville batted .415 (17-for-41) as a team with two doubles, four triples, and a home run, as its power hitting lifted the seventh-ranked Cardinals (15-5) to a 13-6 win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (10-10).
Alex Binelas thrived on Tuesday night with a flawless 4-for-4 outing at the plate, including two triples and five RBIs. Binelas becomes the first Louisville player since 2013 to hit two or more triples in a single game. Cooper Bowman (2-for-5, HR, RBI), Luke Brown (2-for-4, 3B), and Lucas Dunn (2-for-4, 2B, 3B, two RBIs) also chipped in with a multi-hit game each. Henry Davis got a late RBI in the eighth inning to continue his hitting streak, now sitting at 22 games entering this weekend’s series against Notre Dame.
Louisville overcame a 2-1 deficit after the third inning, as WKU got started in the first with a two-run homer by Jack Wilson. The Cardinals would pull away scoring 12 runs from the fourth to the eighth innings, including four in the bottom eighth that effectively put the game away.
