Behind an ACC Tournament record 7 home runs and a record-tying 3 from Alex Binelas alone (should have been 4), the Cards came up HUGE in the first game beating Clemson 15-10. The Cards amassed 18 hits to go along with the 15 runs and it was full of big play after big play after big play. The Cards started the game off rough as they have the past month. Down 2-0 in the first and 5-2 in the second, it was apparent that it was gonna be a long, high-scoring day. UofL got a big time lift from the bats! Binelas (3), Davis (2), and Metzinger (2) all left the yard in impressive fashion. It wasn’t until the 4th inning that the Cards took a lead at 9-8. Yes, you read that right, the 4th inning. Louisville went on a 6-2 run in the last 4.5 innings to secure the game.
This was exactly what the Cards needed to grab the tourney committee’s eye as they started off the day projected as the first team out. A feeling Louisville fans are all too familiar with this year. I still feel like the Cards need to take one of the next 2-3 games to make the NCAA Tournament.
The Cards will take on Georgia Tech Thursday afternoon at 3 pm. The Cards went 1-2 vs Georgia Tech in the regular season. The Cards were outscored 45-21 for an average of 15-7 beat down. The winner of this game advances to the Final Four of the ACC Tournament!
You can watch the game on the Bally’s Sports app (Formally Fox Sports), or if you have the Bally’s Sports channel in your lineup you may be able to watch it there. Radio coverage of the Cards will be on ESPN 93.9 The Ville
