Men’s Soccer Releases 2021 Schedule

The Men’s Soccer team has released their schedule for the upcoming season. The Cards will play 11 matches at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium this season, with the first match falling on Monday August 30th against Evansville. Louisville will also host Kentucky on Tuesday September 7th. Read the full press release below.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Looking to build off a strong spring, the University of Louisville men’s soccer program announced its schedule for the upcoming fall season on Thursday.

The Cardinals have 16 regular season matches on the docket along with a pair of preseason exhibitions, with 11 contests to be played at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

Set to begin his third season in charge, head coach John Michael Hayden will take his team on the road for exhibition matches at UAB (Aug. 14) and Indiana (Aug. 21) in the preseason before opening up the 2021 campaign at Saint Louis on Aug. 26.

Louisville will then play seven of the next eight matches on its home field, beginning with Evansville on Aug. 30. The Cardinals will host in-city foe Bellarmine on Sept. 3 followed by their annual rivalry match with Kentucky on Sept. 7.

UofL will also play host to nonconference matches against Northern Kentucky (Sept. 21), Western Illinois (Sept. 28), Eastern Illinois (Oct. 12) and Oakland (Oct. 19).

Atlantic Coast Conference play starts Sept. 10 with the Cardinals hosting Wake Forest before a road trip to Syracuse. UofL has eight ACC matches on the schedule with home dates also scheduled against Boston College (Sept. 24), North Carolina (Oct. 15) and NC State (Oct. 22). In addition to Syracuse, Louisville will travel to Duke (Oct. 1), Virginia Tech (Oct. 8) and Clemson (Oct. 29).

The Cardinals posted a 4-2-0 mark in conference play during the spring season, sitting them in second place in the ACC Atlantic Division. Louisville capped off its spring with a 2-1 victory over No. 1 Clemson in the regular season finale.

Hayden returns 17 student-athletes from last season, led by All-ACC forward Pedro Fonseca along with the Cardinals’ leading scorer and All-ACC Freshman selection Aboubacar Camara. Louisville will also welcome in a recruiting class that ranked among the top 10 nationally.
