Louisville Wide Receiver Tyler Harrell Press Conference

Louisville wide receiver Tyler Harrell met with the media on Monday afternoon to discuss a variety of topics. The redshirt-sophomore talked about the new wide receiver room, improvements in the offseason, Malik Cunningham, and more. Here are some of the takeaways from Harrell’s press conference.

Here are some of my takeaways from Harrell’s press conference.

Improvements in the offseason

“Just the little things: keeping my feet wet, staying hydrated, and keeping my body right”, Harrell explained. Most of the improvements are based around progressing his skillset as normal, and making sure that he’s in the best shape he can be. He has also put an emphasis on coming to terms with the player that he is, in order to be able to improve correctly.

Harrell confirmed that he ran a 4.24 40-yard earlier this offseason (4.19 hand time).

Offensive tidbits

Harrell highlighted Josh Johnson, Justin Marshall, and others that are set to have big impacts this fall. The open spots on the field at wide receiver have amped up the competition, and Harrell looks to carve out a definite role in the fall.

On what he’s learned from waiting his time at Louisville, Harrell said, “keep learning the plays, be consistent, and know the things you need to improve on.”

On biggest differences between last year and this year: “More tempo, finish, and effort. We’ll be playing fast every play”, Harrell said.

Malik Cunningham’s progression

“He’s always got a great attitude and works hard”, Harrell said. “He’s a great guy and always motivates. He’s throwing the ball well.”

Harrell insists that Cunningham will be making a big jump in his respective development this fall.
