The University of Louisville Field Hockey team claimed the ACC regular season title outright with a 2-1 win over #9 Syracuse on Friday afternoon. The victory on senior day marked the 59 in the past four seasons, making the 2021 senior class the all-time winningest class in program history (2016 class had 58). Freshman Filippa Niebuhr opened up the scoring for the Cardinals in the first quarter, before senior and Louisville native Erica Cooper doubled the lead early in the second half off of a penalty corner. A goal from Syracuse’s Hailey Bitters brought the deficit back to one, but the home team prevailed.
