Gameday Recap: Louisville Vs. Southeast Louisiana

The Louisville men’s basketball team bounced back on Tuesday night with a comfortable 86-60 win over Southeast Louisiana at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards improved to 7-3 on the season. Southeast Louisiana falls to 4-7.

Senior captain Malik Williams led all Cardinals with 15 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Matt Cross added 13 points and 5 boards. El Ellis and Mason Faulkner also scored in double-digits for Louisville.

For Southeast Louisiana, Keon Clergot led all scorers with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Joe Kasperzyk added 10 points. The Lions shot just 32.3 from the field on Tuesday.

Louisville and Southeast Louisiana were tied 10-10 within the first five minutes. Louisville took an 11-10 lead with 15:08 left in the first half and never trailed again. The Cards led 42-31 at halftime and held a double-digit lead for the entire second half on their way to a 26-point win at home.

Louisville entered the night at 6-3 and in desperate need of a convincing performance. A win over Southeast Louisiana is expected, but they took care of business and the result was never in doubt. This was just the second time through 10 games where Louisville did not struggle into the second half. Altogether, a fairly meaningless game, but a promising performance. Onto a much bigger test this weekend.
