The Louisville men’s basketball team found itself back in the loss column on Monday night after a 70-63 loss on the road at North Carolina. The Cards fall to 12-15 on the year and 6-11 in conference play. The Tar Heels now sit at 20-8 and 12-5.

Jae’Lyn Withers led Louisville with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Malik Williams added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Dre Davis added 10 points and 4 boards. Louisville shot 45.0-percent from the field and 25.0-percent from three-point range.
For UNC, Brady Manek led the way with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. R.J. Davis had 16 points and 2 assists. Caleb Love added 16 points and 5 assists of his own. Armando Bacot was also in double figures with 12 points and he added 15 boards.
Louisville had this game tied at halftime and kept up with a desperate UNC team for nearly a full 40 minutes. Considering how things played out when these two met at the Yum! Center, a season sweep by UNC seems a bit unfair. That is how things have gone this season for the Louisville men though. There have been plenty of flashes and individual moments that make you believe they could be a good team, but the overall consistency has not been there. It’s exactly why they are staring down their worst season record in a long, long time.
