In a move that we at CSZ had been mentioning for a couple months now, Justin Perez has joined the Louisville men’s basketball program. He will serve in the role of Director of Men’s Basketball Administration.
Perez has ties to a very successful organization, Roc Nation. Roc Nation was founded by rap artist Jay Z and Perez is the son of the current CEO Desiree Perez. His father Juan Perez is in charge of Roc Nation’s sports division.
While Perez is young, he has an impressive list of apprenticeships. Perez interned with Roc Nation Sports with duties including drafting documents related to entertainment and sports and helping develop and execute some initiatives. He also served in two different community organizations in NY (Reform Alliance and Cada Voto Cuenta) to ensure fair trials and help protect the right to vote.
Meanwhile, he completed his Juris Doctorate at Ivy League school Columbia University this past May. His bachelor degree came from American University in the field of psychology. While at American, he played for their basketball program for 3 season.
Justin Perez brings a wealth of experience both in sports and law to the program. Many believe his ties to Roc Nation may help the program on the frontier of NIL. In the end, Perez will bring an interesting mix of youth and experience in multiple fields to the program.
