Nunnsense | Ranking Louisville Football Schedule

Looking at the 2022 Louisville football schedule you will notice that is very backloaded. It seems the Cards will get some easier games earlier in the season. But which teams will be more difficult to obtain a victory. I’ve listed below the schedule in order of easiest to most difficult to win. This year is very tough because about half the schedule seems to be 50/50 games. Regardless, I’ll attempt to rank them for you. I’ll use many factors including location, returning production, trends as well as my opinion.

12. James Madison

November 5th at Cardinal Stadium- JMU is making the jump to FBS and isn’t eligible for a bowl game. A home game for the Cards against an inferior opponent that might not have much to play for come November.

11. USF

September 24th at Cardinal Stadium – The Bulls averaged 23 points per game last season and just 12.5 points per game on the road . The Bulls were 0-6 on the road last season.

10. Syracuse

Sept 3 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse NY – I don’t like this game on the road but I like Syracuse’s passing attack. They ranked 121st last season with 158 passing yards per game.

9. Florida State

September 16th at Cardinal Stadium – On paper, FSU should rank a little higher on this list but playing FSU at home changes things a bit. We hear every year that the old FSU is back. and then… Nothing. So until I see a semblance of the old FSU, I’ll assume they are not as good as advertised.

8. Virginia

October 8th in Charlottesville VA. –  Always a tough place to play but the difference between being ranked 5th and 8th on this list is the fact that UVA replaces 5 starting offensive lineman. The Cavs give up the big play too often and the Cards have big play potential.

7. Wake Forest

October 29th at Cardinal Stadium – Being at home helps but this game could be a shootout. Last team to have the ball could be the winner.

6. Boston College

October 1st in Chestnut Hill, MA. – I think Wake has a better team but I think this game will be tougher for the Cards – so I guess you could flip flop these two games, but I’m thinking the BC game has potential of a “Trap Game.”

5. NC State

November 19th at Cardinal Stadium – State was 9-3 and 6-2 in ACC play. They return a solid QB but lost some other key pieces including their left tackle. State will definitely be tough but a game I expect the Cards to win.

4. Pitt

October 22nd at Cardinal Stadium – Pitt lost a lot from the defending ACC championship team but they hit the portal and reloaded. Their defense may not be as good as last year but they will still be very good. Their offense has potential to be better than the 2021 Panthers.

3. UCF

September 9th in Orlando, FL. – I know, I know… we beat them last year. That’s exactly why this is in the top 3 of the toughest games. REVENGE! They are coming for us and they get the comforts of home.

2. UK

November 26th in Lexington, KY. – This game being late in the season might not be as difficult as its ranked here but as of today, this is the 2nd hardest game. I never like traveling to Lexington and coupled with the fact its the Rivalry game, it has to be ranked here.

1. Clemson

November 12th in Clemson, S.C. – Clemson may be down but they are still loaded with talent. Winning in Death Valley isn’t easy as they have won 34 straight there. Until the Cards beat the Tigers, they will probably hold down this spot.
