Coming seemingly out of nowhere, forward Danilo Jovanovich announced his commitment to the Louisville men’s basketball. Danilo comes to the Cards after redshirting his true freshman season at the University of Miami.
Jovanovich was a member of the 2022 recruiting class where he was a three star prospect and ranked 190th in the 247Sports composite rankings. There isn’t much recent film due to his redshirt, but his high school highlights from the EYBL against some of the top prospects in the country nicely displays an array of skills Cardinal fans can be happy to expect.
Danilo Jovanovich EYBL Highlights
The southpaw plays with a very high motor and brings the ability to score at all three levels. He can face his defender up when needed, hit shots around the perimeter, and score with his back to the basket. At the Nike Peach Jam competition going into his senior season of high school, Jovanovich averaged 18.2 PPG, 6.4 RPG and 2.4 APG on an incredible 65.7% from the field. The 6’8, near 220 pound forward see’s the floor very well and loves to get his teammates involved.
Though he isn’t considered an elite defender, his pure hustle allows him to hold his own defensively. He should continue to improve naturally as he gains more muscle and adjusts to the flow of a live game, as he only saw 2 minutes of action in his lone game against St. Francis BK.
Danilo Jovanovich pushes Louisville’s overall class for 2023 to #3, tied for the best in school history and the first time since 2011 it’s been ranked that highly. He joins Skyy Clark as the second transfer for the upcoming season and joins a freshman class including five stars Trentyn Flowers and Dennis Evans, four stars Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams Jr., and JUCO standout Koron Davis.
Two scholarships remain and as this addition proves, the staff is working in extreme silence. Transfer guards RJ Luis and Tre White have been hosted for visits and we know 2023 top 10 prospect Mackenzie Mgbako plans on visiting soon. With an obvious need of a guard and one presumably filling a final spot, we wait and see who pledges their commitment next.
