On Friday Evening Jeff Brohm & Louisville Cardinals picked up a commitment from University Of Central Florida Transfer Cornerback Corey Thornton. Corey has 1 year of eligibility left after 4 season with Central Florida. Corey over his career at Central Florida while starting 38 games he collected 138 Tackles (104 Solo Tackles), 4 Interceptions, & 1 Sack.
Standing 6’1 and weighing in at 190 lbs, Corey has great size for a defensive back. Thornton is a very physical corner, some of you may remember the hit Thornton laid on Marshon Ford a year ago. Thornton’s physical play helps him be really effective in stopping the run.
Thornton has good closing speed, and aggressively plays the ball in the air, while simultaneously playing the man.
Outside of Corey’s physical presence, he plays the game with great anticipation and aggression. Thornton is a very versatile defender, on film he just looks to be a football player. With coach English defensive schemes and coaching, expect to see Thornton play all over the defensive backfield.
Here is come of his highlights from High School:
