Louisville jumped up to their highest ranking in years when the polls came out this week. It was the perfect time for a letdown. Team isn’t feeling well, 9pm start, anxious to defend their new ranking. It was time for the new streak to end. Except one thing, It didn’t. Chucky led all Cards with 15, Terrence Edwards & James Oop-Scott had 13 & Javonne added 11 to lead the Cards to a 71-66 victory in one of the worst venues to play College Basketball. Hadley led all Cards in rebounds with 8 & Scott added 6. Chucky had 6 assists on the night. Reyne Smith had an unusual off night from behind the stripe as he went 1-9 from 3 and hit two 2-point baskets. May be the first time in his career he hit more twos than threes. James Scott had 147 dunks again this game also.
Anyhow, the Cards got out to a big lead the first 10 minutes of the game but then Little Pop-a-shot pump, Brandon Rechsteiner, couldn’t miss from three. He led all Hokies with 18. Actually VT’s three point shooting and making is what kept them in the game hitting a Louisville-esque 11 overall. The Cards were also out-rebounded this game, another thing they ardent used to and had 12 turnovers. This game stayed close throughout the last 29 minutes and 30 seconds of the game. Props out to Virginia Tech for hanging with this Louisville team and props to this Louisville team playing under the weather and still gritting out thew win.
The Cards next face Pittsburgh Saturday at 6pm on ESPN 2. They are looking to win their 7th in a row and 17th out of their last 18 games. Here are some Highlights and the Pressers. We hope you enjoy.
