Ones To Watch: Virginia Tech

Welcome to this week’s edition of Ones to Watch. I will show you the statistical leaders on the team, talk to you about some things I observed on film, & whatever else catches my eye. I will not be stepping on JK’s toes for his EYNTK piece (much), but giving you a little to be on the lookout for. FYI, if you haven’t checked out EYNTK (at the button of the page) I suggest you do. The 3-5 Hokies have won 1 game after dropping the previous two. VT is averaging 25.3 ppg while giving up 29.88. Not a good sign for them. The Hokies have lost to Wake, GT, Vandy, ODU & South Carolina.

They have rushed for a total of 1474 yards, good for 184.3 yards per game. Through the air they have passed for 1516 yards, good for 189.5 yds per game. They have a stellar rushing attack. They have committed 9 turnovers. They have only forced 8.

Offensively they are averaging 373 yards per game. Their starting QB, Kyron Drones, has the following stat line so far. He has completed 141-236 passes (59%), thrown 6 interceptions, 1516 yards, 14 TD’s with a long of 67. He is averaging 189.5 yards through the air per game this season. He has been sacked 21 times this season. It’s Lubin time!!!

Receiving wise, Ayden Greene (23 for 365 & 2 TD), Donovan Greene (16 for 274 & 2 TD), & Takye Heath (15 for 157 & 3 TD) are leading the way this season. All average over 10.5 yards per carry. They have

On the ground, Marcellous Hawkins (85 rushes for 531 yds & 1 TD), (113 rushes for 414 yds & 7 TD) & QB Kyron Drones (55 for 373 yds) make up for 1318 out of the teams total 1474 yards on the ground.

Their defense has only forced 8 turnovers this season. They have sacked the opposing QB 17 times this season. Va Tech has given up 29 TD’s this season. Their leading tacklers are LB Kaleb Spencer (42), DB LB Caleb Wilson (34), & LB Jaden Keller (32). They allow over 367 yards per game in total Offense. Opponents have got into the red zone 32 times & scored 23 of them.
