Cardinal News & Notes: Wednesday Afternoon Edition

Men’s Basketball: The Cards (13-4, 1-3) got destroyed on Tuesday night 90-59 at Providence (12-6, 1-4). The Friars controlled the game from the start, and it just got out of hand. This will either keep the Cards down for the rest of the season, or it will be the wake up call they need. We will surely find out. Their next game is Saturday against DePaul at 4:00 at the KFC YUM! Center.

Women’s Basketball: The 16/15 ranked Cards (13-3, 2-1) will host USF (9-7, 1-1) tonight at 7:00 at the KFC Yum! Center. UofL will try to get back on track after losing to St. John’s on Sunday afternoon. There is a Size Up Contest for fans to attend the game. Anyone shorter than Shelby Harper (5’4) and taller than Sheronne Vails (6’4) will get a ticket for $2 at the window. The game will air on WHAS TV and heard on WKRD 790 and 101.7 FM.

Football: After a 7-6 season in which the Cards played so many young guys, 2012 is looking to be a year filled with expectations. The recruiting to this point has been great, and now the Cards are getting recognized nationally. There are already a few polls out for next season that feature UofL in the Top 25. Obviously, it is early, but it is good to see the recognition is coming our way. Spring practice starts on March 21 and the Spring Game will be on Saturday, April 14.
