Cards have 4 players drafted in MLS Superdraft

It was a great day for UofL Men’s Soccer, as they had 4 players drafted in the MLS Superdraft. Nick DeLeon, Austin Berry, and Colin Rolfe all got picked in the first round, while Kenney Walker was selected in the second round.

Nick DeLeon (MF/F) was picked 7th overall to DC United. He started every game in his 2 years for the Cardinals. He scored 6 goals and had 6 assists this season, giving him 18 points. In both of his seasons for the Cards, he was named to the All-Big East first team.

 

Austin Berry (D) was drafted two picks later at 9th overall by the Chicago Fire. For the 2011 season, Berry was named a third team NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-American. He joined DeLeon the last two seasons as a first team All-Big East selection.

 

Colin Rolfe (F) was the third Cardinal to be picked in the first round . He went 18th to the Houston Dynamo. Rolfe led UofL in scoring this season with 28 points, which came from 9 goals and 10 assists. He is a two-time first team NSCAA All-American, as well as first-team All-Great Lakes Region player for the third straight season.

 

Kenney Walker (MF) was the last pick of the second round, 38th overall, to the Los Angeles Galaxy. Walker had 16 points this season, which included 5 goals. He was named a second team All-Big East selection for the 2011 season.
