Cardinal News & Notes: Weekend Preview

Not only is this a busy weekend for UofL teams, but a lot of the action will be taking place in the ‘Ville. There are plenty of opportunities to get out there and support the Cards! Here is what the teams have coming up for this weekend…

*Men’s Basketball– The 17th ranked Cards (21-7, 9-6) will host Pittsburgh (15-13, 4-11) on Sunday at 2:00. This is also the game that former Cardinal great DeJuan Wheat will have his jersey honored. The game will be shown on CBS.

*Women’s Basketball– The 16/17 ranked Lady Cards (19-8, 8-6) will host 21/18 DePaul (20-8, 8-6) at 12:00 on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. It will be Senior Day for Becky Burke.

*Baseball– 16th ranked baseball will host Oakland in a 3 game series at Jim Patterson Stadium. Admission is free! The game times are: Friday at 3:00, Saturday at 1:00, and Sunday at 12:00. Friday is Budweiser Buck Night, with draft beer and small Pepsi products for $1. On Saturday, the first 500 fans will receive the 2012 home schedule keychain. Sunday is Dr. Bizer’s Vision World Family Fun Day. There will be inflatable jumpies for the kids, the kids can run the bases after the game, and select players will sign autographs on the field. Also, a special “Family Four-Pack” will be available, which is 4 hot dogs, 4 12 oz. sodas, and a tub of popcorn for $20.

*Softball– 18/20 ranked UofL will have a 3 game home series against Creighton at Ulmer Stadium. Again, admission is free for softball! Friday’s game is at 2:00. Saturday will be a double-header with the first game at 12:00 and the next game scheduled for 2:00, so shortly after the first game ends.

*Swimming & Diving– The Cards are in West Lafayette, IN on Saturday for the Championship Qualifying Meet.

*Tennis– Both the men and women have matches on Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The women host Toledo at 1:00 and the men host Wake Forest at 5:00.

*Lacrosse– Two games this weekend. They are on the road Friday in Farmville, VA against Longwood at 4:00. Then on the road Sunday in Norfolk, VA to face Old Dominion at 12:00.
