Saturday is a busy day of UofL sports!
By Justin Renck:
Today is another very busy day for UofL sports! Once again, that is a great thing! We love our Cards and every sport. The highlight of the day is the men’s basketball game at noon, but there is plenty more on the schedule!
The 5th ranked Cards (16-3, 4-2) will be on the road taking on Georgetown (13-4, 3-3) in an important Big East game. The Cards have dropped 2 straight and need to get back on track. The game is at noon and will be shown on ESPN. Check out the stat comparisons between the teams.
*Swimming & Diving
The 14th ranked men and the 17th ranked women for UofL will be in Lexington as they meet the Kentucky Wildcats! Diving events will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the men performing on the 1-meter and the women on the 3-meter spring-board. Senior Day festivities will begin shortly thereafter preceding the swimming and final diving events.
The Cards (3-2) lost to NC State on Friday in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the University of Mississippi’s Gillom Sports Center. On Saturday, they take on Columbia at 9 a.m. in the consolation match.
The UofL women’s tennis team has a busy Saturday as they take on the Southern Illinois Salukis at 10 a.m. and then the Miami Redhawks at 4 p.m. all in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. There will be free t-shirts and pizza for the first 50 fans to arrive for the 4 p.m. match.
For the first time in program history, the University of Louisville women’s tennis team has two players ranked in the top 100 going into the dual match season. Rebecca Shine clocks in at No. 62 and teammate Julia Fellerhoff is ranked No. 84 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
*Track & Field
The men and women continue action as they split the squads up between the Rod McCravy Memorial (Lexington, KY) and the IU Relays (Bloomington, IN). Action at the Rod McCravy Memorial begins at 11 a.m., while starting time at the IU Relays is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. in the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
