CSZ: What made you choose UofL?
Rushing: Ever since I was younger, I used to play basketball and football and just always liked Louisville. I’ve been telling all my friends that I wanted to be offered by Louisville so bad. When I finally got it (scholarship offer), I hopped on it as soon as possible. I didn’t want to miss a chance and also since they are losing some wide receivers, it’s an awesome opportunity.
CSZ: That is awesome! So growing up in Florida, how and what did you know about Louisville?
Rushing: I knew about Louisville because of basketball, but once I got to high school I only played football. My dad used to go to Florida and Coach Strong was one of the coaches there at the time, and my dad loved the move of him at Louisville. So I always kept my eyes on Louisville and have been waiting on my chance.
*Rushing’s dad, George Rushing Sr., played Tight End for the Florida Gators from 1990-93. Charlie Strong was at Florida from 1991-94 in this particular stint in Gainesville.
CSZ: Does it help that Louisville has so many players from Florida? Right now there are 13 commits for the 2014 class, and 8 are from Florida.
Rushing: Yea that also helps a lot. There will be people there that I can relate to.
CSZ: Have you visited campus or been to the city of Louisville? If not, do you plan to make a trip this season?
Rushing: No not yet, but I will be there in early June.
CSZ: What were your thoughts on the Sugar Bowl victory over Florida?
Rushing: I thought Louisville played tough, played with a chip on their shoulder and came out as the winners after clearly being named the underdogs.
CSZ: Tell us about your high school team, Cardinal Gibbons. What are your expectations for this season?
Rushing: I think we are pretty set. I mean me, my other teammate WR Trevon Lee and my QB Peyton Bender, I feel like we can do some big things.
*Trevon Lee has offers from Louisville, Auburn, South Carolina, USC, Clemson, West Virginia, and more. Bender is committed to Washington State.
CSZ: What about your expectations for when you are a Louisville Cardinal?
Rushing: I feel like we can do very big things within the next 4 years.
CSZ: We appreciate George taking the time to talk with us about his commitment to the Cards! We will keep up with him during his upcoming season to let you know how he is doing! Go Cards!
