I believe that technically the “Year of the Cardinal” has closed its chapter, and now we are moving on to possibly Year 2 of that. If of course when we say “Year”, we are referring to the Sports calender, which is what I go by. So to me, we are now entering into the 2nd year of what could be the “Decade of the Cardinal” when it’s all said and done. But I digress…
On Tuesday afternoon, two more teams at UofL had preseason polls come out and they were ranked in the Top 25. It is getting to where when a poll comes out, the question isn’t “Are we ranked?”. Now the question is usually “Where are we ranked?”
The Men’s Soccer team will begin the season ranked 10th in the NSCAA ranking. They begin a 3 game exhibition schedule this Thursday when they host Lindsey Wilson at Cardinal Park at 7:00 pm. The regular season will kick off on August 30 when they travel to Virginia for an 8:00 pm battle with the Cavaliers. Here is the complete poll.
The Volleyball team is ranked 19th in the first AVCA poll. They open with an Alumni Match/Scrimmage on August 24 at 6 pm at Cardinal Arena. Their regular season starts on August 30 vs Syracuse in the Penn State Invitational. Here is the complete poll.
