A source told ESPN’s Brett McMurphy that if the Cards beat Cincinnati tonight, they will receive an invite from the Russell Athletic Bowl. That game will be played in Orlando, FL on December 28 against an ACC team. If you don’t already know, that is the same date that UofL and UK will square off in men’s basketball in Lexington.
The basketball game will tip-off at 4:00 p.m. ET and the Russell Athletic Bowl is schedule to kickoff around 6:30-6:45 p.m. ET. So it would likely end up being back-to-back action for Cards fans.
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place bowl games for the AAC are all on December 28, so we will have some sort of conflict regardless. The Russell Athletic Bowl is going to be the best option because of opponent, location, and time of day. Even if Cincinnati does beat Louisville, I am confident that the Cards still end up in Orlando on December 28. The combination of Teddy Bridgewater, a team that has been top 10-20 all season long, and the strong UofL alumni-base in Florida will likely make the Cards too hard to pass up for the Russell Athletic Bowl.
