On Thursday night, class of 2015 wide receiver Irvin Charles tweeted out his top 7 schools, and the Louisville Cardinals were on that list.
I just wanna thank all the coaches for givin me a chance to attend their school, I'm content with my list how it is🙌 pic.twitter.com/zKRbgJPedt

Charles is listed at 6’4 and anywhere from 207-212 lbs on the major recruiting sites. He is from Haddonfield, New Jersey. On 247Sports, where he is a 4-star prospect, the Crystal Ball for him has Penn State at 62% and Miami at 19%. However, with the actual predictions on where he ends up, 3 of the last 4 people to predict have him going to Miami.
So why would I even mention him on here? Well for one, he is a 4-star player (on 247Sports and Rivals) and he has Louisville in his final 7. You never know what could happen. Also, while still on 247Sports, it lists 29 schools that Charles has been interested in and it shows his interest level in each school. Three of those schools are “none”, 22 of those schools are “cool”, and only four of them are “warm.” Louisville is one of those four, along with Miami, Penn State, and Michigan. As you can see, Michigan isn’t even in his final seven. So does this mean it could be down to Louisville, Miami, and Penn State?
Here is a scouting report on him from Scout.com:
Charles is a big target who could grow into a tight end in college. He has big hands and is long, and does a nice job of catching the ball at its highest point. He gets down the field and also does a nice job of coming out of breaks. He also tracks the ball very well and can make the difficult catch. All-around, he can be a big-play guy down the field. — Brian Dohn
As a junior, Charles made 49 catches for 848 yards and 11 touchdowns.
This kid has offers from all over the country. Not only do you have those seven schools that have offered, but you have teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and more. It would be a real treat if the Cards can somehow land him.
I am not going to act like a recruiting expert here. But it seems like the two to beat are Miami and Penn State. So for the Cards to really pass them, I would hope that Charles doesn’t make a decision anytime soon so that he can then see the numbers that this offense will put up in Bobby Petrino’s system. When games actually start, I think you will start to see a lot of high-caliber offensive players want to come here. I hope that Irvin Charles is one of them!
Ten minutes later…
I made the mistake of watching his highlight film. I call it a mistake because if he doesn’t end up at Louisville, I will be upset. So many plays that make you say “WOW!” What I love is that at 6’4, they don’t just have him running fade routes. He catches the ball over the middle and makes plays. Oh, and he plays some defense too. When you get to the 5:55 mark, watch that defensive play, and then watch it again. Incredible.
