Some people need sleep off a tough loss. Waiting all week for a big game just to lose is something you never want to happen and as a Louisville fan something we don’t have to experience often as of late. We did however have to last night. The Cards fell 5-3 last night in game 1 of the 2014 CWS to rival Vanderbilt. They will play 12 time CWS Finals participant Texas in an elimination game Monday at 3pm on ESPN2. You can watch it through Watch ESPN on your mobile device through the app or click this link for viewing on your PC . The Longhorns have appeared in the CWS 35 times reaching the finals 12 times and winning it all 6 times. The Texas Longhorns have the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I college baseball with a win percentage of .740. The Longhorns rank second in all-time number of total wins (3,246) in history. I told you earlier in the week I was worried about Vandy due to them being a mirror image of our program. They Louisville’d us last night for sure. Not too many teams in America can play small-ball like Vandy and Louisville. No need to be worried however, I feel like this loss will be the wake up call we needed. We had been breezing through the tourney and sometimes a loss is not what you want, but what you need. I fully expect to see a rematch of last nights game this weekend. The 1-0 game between UC Irvine & Vanderbilt will be Monday night at 8pm. The 2014 CWS finals are Monday June 23 through Wednesday June 25th if necessary. Good luck to our guys and go Cards.
