It’s been a while, so let’s get caught up on how all of the “other” sports are doing at UofL. A lot of good teams to keep up with!
*The lacrosse team invites everyone to a banquet on Friday night at 7:00 in the PNC Club at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium to celebrate their 2014 season. The Cards finished the season ranked 11th in the country, set a program record for wins with 16, and won the Big East regular season and conference tournaments.
*The 7th ranked field hockey team (10-2, 3-1) lost 3-1 to Syracuse on Saturday. The Orange are now ranked 10th in the country. Louisville returns home to face 17th ranked Boston College on Friday at 3:00 pm ET at Trager Stadium. The game will be shown on ESPN3 and Fox Sports South. The field hockey team could be the best kept secret on Floyd Street!
*The volleyball team (11-7, 3-3) swept Notre Dame on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center 25-14, 25-19, 25-13. The Cards hit the road this weekend to face Syracuse on Friday and NC State on Sunday.
*The men’s soccer team (6-5-1) beat Florida Gulf Coast 2-1 on Tuesday night at Lynn Stadium. The Cards had lost four matches in a row, so it’s good to finally get back to winning. The next 4 matches will be at home, and the next one will be big as #2 Syracuse comes to town on Friday night at 7:30 pm ET.
*The women’s soccer team (5-6-2) will host Northern Kentucky on Wednesday night at 7:00 at Lynn Stadium. The Cards are 2-2-2 in the ACC and are in 8th place in the conference.
*The swimming & diving team got their season off to a good start last Friday by sweeping Xavier. The men won 204-56 and the women won 205-64. Next up is the SMU Classic in Dallas, Texas this Friday and Saturday against SMU.
*The men’s tennis team saw their doubles team of Luis Elizondo and Jeffrey Brown win the B1 Division title at the Wake Forest Invitational on Sunday afternoon. UofL will begin competition in the Ohio Valley Regionals on Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee.
*The women’s tennis team will begin the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday.
*The men’s golf team just wrapped up play in the Ball State Invitational. Up next for them is the Warrior Wave Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii. That sounds nice.
*The women’s golf team finished 13th at the Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. They will wrap up their fall season this weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.
*The cross country team will compete in Pre Nationals this Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
