The regular season may be over, but recruiting season is in full swing for college football. Bobby Petrino and his staff will be hosting a crop of impressive visitors this weekend. Most of them are committed to other schools, so we will see if any of them flip to UofL. Let’s take a look at the list…
*Like always, the “four recruiting sites” are Rivals, Scout, 247, and ESPN*
Jonathan Greenard (Louisville commit) – Defensive End/Linebacker from Hiram, Georgia. He is a 3-star prospect on all four recruiting sites. Has always seemed like a solid commit to the Cards, so he is just getting his official visit in.
Jalen Julius – Wide Receiver/Cornerback from Winter Garden, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect on ESPN and a 3-star on the other three. Julius was committed to the Florida Gators, but backed off of that in July. It appears that Louisville could be the front-runner for Julius.
Dexter Williams (Miami commit) – Running Back from Winter Garden, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect on all four recruiting sites. He committed to Miami way back in April, but has since taken unofficial visits to plenty of places. Since his committment, he has unofficially visited Georgia Tech, Louisville, Ohio State, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, Auburn, and Florida. All of those were unofficial, but this trip to Louisville will be an official. He is probably solid to Miami, but that is a lot of visiting, so you never know.
*Jalen Julius and Dexter Williams are teammates at West Orange High School.*
Jaire Alexander (South Carolina commit) – Cornerback from Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a 3-star prospect on all four recruiting sites. Alexander committed to South Carolina back in June and took his official visit there in November. It looks like the Cards could still be very well in the mix with Alexander. And just my personal opinion, with South Carolina just going 6-6 and Steve Spurrier getting up there in age, it has to be harder for them to recruit because kids can’t be certain how long Spurrier will be there. Yea yea, we have Petrino, so throw in the jokes there. But he isn’t going anywhere. Keep an eye on this one.
Sherrod Pittman (South Carolina commit) – Linebacker from Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect on Rivals, 247, and ESPN. South Carolina gave up 31.2 points per game this season, which is 93rd in the country. Louisville gave up 20.5, good for 19th in the country. Maybe playing for Todd Grantham can sway Pittman.
Tristan Payton (USC commit) – Wide Receiver from Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect on Rivals, 247, and ESPN. He committed to the Trojans back in August and this will be his first official visit anywhere else, according to 247 Sports. Probably not much to see here, just a kid taking an official visit because he can.
William Sweet (North Carolina commit) – Offensive Lineman from Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect on all four recruiting sites. He stands at 6’7 and weighs 280 lbs. He committed to North Carolina in April, but has taken plenty of other visits since that time.
*Pittman, Payton, and Sweet are all teammates at First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida.*
Kenny Thomas – Offensive Lineman from Prattville, Alabama. He is a 3-star prospect on all four recruiting sites and is a beast at 6’6 and 330 lbs. It looks like his top schools are Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Mississippi State. L.D. Scott is the main recruiter of Thomas for the Cards, and Scott has been great so far in the state of Alabama. Remember, Scott is from Auburn.
