Devonte Fields, who was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year at TCU in in 2012, is now a member of Louisville’s 2015 recruiting class. The reason he is no longer at TCU is not a good topic to dive into, so I will let a couple articles from ESPN.com explain more. Click the author’s name to read their full article.

From Joe Schad in August 2014:

TCU defensive end Devonte Fields, who is alleged to have assaulted his ex-girlfriend, has been permanently separated from the university, a school spokesman said Thursday.

Fields was suspended by the school last month after he surrendered to authorities on a misdemeanor assault warrant, stemming from allegations he threatened his ex-girlfriend and punched her.

From Max Olson:

Former TCU defensive end Devonte Fields is getting a second chance at Louisville.

Fields, who is currently attending Trinity Valley Community College, committed to Louisville during his official visit on Sunday. He is ESPN’s No. 3-rated junior college recruit.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Fields earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors as a true freshman in 2012 and was the league’s preseason defensive player of the year in 2014. He was dismissed from TCU last August after being charged with misdemeanor assault in July, stemming from allegations he threatened and hit his ex-girlfriend. His legal process has yet to be resolved.

So, yea.
