55 (Season 2 Episode 20)

55

This week on 55…..

We are coming to the end of another season of 55. Don’t worry though, still 3-4 episodes left this season and I am confident it will be renewed for a third season. Seeing that I am the only one who could approve or cancel 55 I would have to be a dufus to deny the approval. (Shout out to Steve) Speaking of Steve. Did you tune into the brand new CardinalSportsZone podcast yesterday? We will talk about that too. The ACC Championships have wrapped up for some and are about to gear up for others. Where did the Cards start the week in the polls? Find out here.

Without further adieu, here are the most ridiculous, outlandish, interesting or just downright obnoxious things I have heard this week. THIS is 55…..

***Breaking*** 4 star 2016 SF Maverick Rowan is expected to visit UL this weekend per Mike Hughes

– New top 25 polls came out yesterday. The men moved up one spot to #17, The Women fell to #10

– I wanted to include this article  again this week since we are now 2-0. Learn why Justin thinks because of Chris’s dismissal, it’s like a new season

-Here are the current ACC Tournament Seeding projections with Louisville’s scenarios via Steven Rummage AKA Romeo…If you listened to the podcast, you will know why….Wait, did I say podcast???????????

Last Week: GTECH 52-51 W, FSU 81-59 W

There was a slight question of who would step up in Chris’s absence. is must have been a multiple choice question. In the first game, Terry Rozier and Montrezl Harrell were the answers. Terry with 22 points and Montrezl with 8 points and 8 rebounds, all in key situations in the game. Wayne Blackshear added 10. The dismantling of FSU came by the hands of everyone. Harrell held his own private dunk contest (video at bottom) and had 16 points and 4 rebounds. Terry had 10 points, 9 assists and 6 steals. Wayne lead all scorers with 18 points and added 4 rebounds. Mango pulled down 9 rebounds. Onuaku had 5 boards, 2 steals and 4 points. Quentin added 11 points and 4 assists. The surprise of the game was Anton Gills 14 points off of 5-5 shooting in the game. This offense had a great flow and defense met their deflection quota for the game. Gonna be hard to beat if we keep it up…IF. This game also lacked a long scoring drought that has almost become a staple in UL close games and losses. Next up for the Cards? No biggie, just #12 ND & #2 Virginia at the Yum! Center………….

Women’s Basketball:

Last week: @ND 68-52 L, BC 77-60 W, at Virginia 75-59 L

The Cards started the week off with big Monday and #2 ND. The Cards got walloped 68-52. Dyer, Hammond and Moore all scored 11. The common theme in the losses this week were huge second half runs by opponents. Things seemed to be on the right track however as the Cards shifted focus to BC. The Cards defeated BC 77-60 behind Mariya Moore’s 18 points, Jude’s 7 assists and Dyer’s 6 rebounds, all team highs. As good as the Women’s Basketball team looked vs BC, they looked that bad at Virginia in the final 7 minutes of the game. The Cards went down 9 early in the second half but a mini boom gave UL a 47-45 lead. Virginia dominated on the boards and on the scoreboard the rest of the way on a 30-12 run. The Cards locked up a 3 seed and will await winner of Friday Quarterfinal game.

-This brings me to a sad time of the year. The season finale of 55. I do not know when it will occur. I always run it a week after the basketball season ends so we have a max of 4 episodes to go, a minimum of 2. I do enjoy doing 55 every week for you guys because it allows me to be more personable and it gives you guys all the info I would want to know if I only got one chance to keep up on everything. Let’s not think about the end though right now, let’s go 4 more weeks….
