High school kids only get to take five official visits to colleges when they are deciding where to go. So if a big-time prospect uses one of those five visits on your school, you are right there in the mix. T.J. Leaf, a five-star power forward on all four major recruiting sites, will take an official visit to Louisville on the weekend of October 2. Rick Pitino and Kenny Johnson met with Leaf and his family for an in-home visit on Tuesday evening, and parlayed that into an official visit for Leaf.

Why is that weekend a good one to visit? On October 3rd, the Cards will hold their first Red-White scrimmage at the KFC Yum! Center. Also that weekend, four-star guard Andrew Jones will be making his official visit to UofL. That has the potential to be a major weekend for the Cards.

Leaf decommitted from Arizona in early August. He lives in El Cajon, California now, but according to Jeff Greer of the Courier-Journal, he may not be a 100% west coast guy.

An added element that helps Louisville with Leaf, though, is its proximity to his grandparents and extended family. His mom was born and raised in Evansville, Ind., while his dad grew up in Indianapolis.

“Oh, we’re Midwestern people,” Brad said. “We’ve just been out here for 15 years.”

Right now, Leaf has four official visits set: Louisville (Oct. 2), Oregon (Oct. 9), Kansas (Oct. 16), and UCLA (Oct. 30).
