National Signing Day is coming up on Wednesday, February 3rd. So when your big time commits take visits to powerhouse programs like an Alabama, some people get a little nervous. Now obviously, if you listened to Cardinal Sports Zone on 93.9 The Ville this past Saturday morning, you heard me say that a recruiting expert from down south was still believing that Pass was solid to Louisville, and to not make much of his visit to ‘Bama. If you didn’t listen, and you were freaking out, well then maybe it’s lesson learned?
Steve Jones of the Courier Journal spoke to Pass’ mother (Kershena Thomas) about the visit to see Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Here are a few things that she had to say about the trip and where the recruitment stood with Jawon.
“He’s still committed to Louisville,” Thomas said. “We just went out on an official visit, but he’s still committed. … His mind is made up. He’s not wavering. We always enjoy Alabama when we go over there, but his mind is made up.”
“(Pass) said that he appreciates everything Alabama has done and the way that they always reached out to him, but he’s convinced Louisville is where he needs to be and that’s a better fit for him.”
“I think he’s going to be a great addition to help Lamar, and he said he’s going to be able to watch Lamar and learn from him,” Thomas said. “They can develop a good working relationship and get the job done.”
Breathe easy, Cards fans. And get excited at the thought of both Jawon Pass and Lamar Jackson on the roster next season!
