With the new football staff largely in place for UofL, recruiting is the next priority for Coach Scott Satterfield. The Cards are in hot pursuit of some talented players. With only 4 players signed early, there are a number of spots to fill and a number of positions of need.
One position of need is defensive line. UofL has a very talented player on their radar to help fill the need and he has scheduled an official visit to UofL on January 25, according to Rival’s Chad Simmons.
Monday January 7 was a very big day for Jones County (Ga.) hybrid Ja'Darien Boykin. He added #Louisville, #Canes and #Terps offers. He has already scheduled official visits to two of those schools. Could an SEC school be next?

Ja’Darien Boykin is a 6’2 235 lbs 4 Star DE from GA according to 247sports composite rankings. Boykin will likely remain a DE for Coach Satterfield, but there is a possibility it could play as an OLB.
There are no shortage of suitors. Miami just offered, his home state school Georgia Tech has been pursuing him heavily, and Maryland has jumped in the fray as well. It will be the first big test for the new staff that includes returning recruiting gurus Cort Dennison and Stephen Field.
Boykin is an edge rusher who will provide immediate depth at a position in need of it. Expect UofL to really give all out effort on Boykin. This will likely be a battle right down to signing day between the Cards and Canes. Of course, there could be other schools that jump in or one of the others in hot pursuit could sway this excellent young player. As of now, I view it as a battle between the Cards and Canes.
