It’s no secret UofL is in the market for a QB, especially one that can come in and compete immediately for the starting job. UofL is searching the grad transfer market and they may have found a prime candidate.

Ben Hicks, a 6’2 220 lbs grad transfer QB, has scheduled a visit to UofL this weekend. He was a prolific passer at SMU in his 3 seasons there; throwing for 9081 yards and 71 TDs per sports-reference.com.

He was recruited by former SMU head coach and former Clemson OC Chad Morris to SMU. He redshirted his freshman year and then played under Morris for two years. That’s when Morris left and became head coach at Arkansas. Hicks then played this year under new SMU head coach Sonny Dykes.

With Chad Morris being at Arkansas, Arkansas figures to be a presumptive favorite for Hicks’ services. However, it’s obviously not a foregone conclusion as UofL will be his first visit.

Hicks would bring a proven passer to UofL that would immediately compete for the starting job. His numbers speak for themselves and his numbers could be even better with the obvious talent UofL possesses at the WR position. This is a player to keep an eye on Card fans.
