I hate Monday’s. There, I said it. They start off the work week. They end the weekend. They just plain stink. One good thing about Monday’s though is that one week from tonight we get to start off the 2019 season hosting ND. It will be good to get sports started in full swing again here in the Ville. For today’s pick in my Top 10 favorite games of all time in no particular order, I chose the 2002 match-up vs FSU AKA, The Rain Game.
It could also be known as the goal post game, the first time we beat FSU, or whatever you remember the most about that night. Despite the torrential downpour, 38,109 fans showed up to support the Cards on that historic night. Bobby Bowden had been telling people that he was worried about playing the Cards that night. Boy was he right. The first quarter ended with both teams putting 3 on the board. But the Cards trailed at halftime 13-6 after having 100 penalty yards to only 77 total yards. The leftovers of Tropical Storm Isadore made this an even match despite FSU playing the better half and being the better team.
The second half was a battle. No leeway in the 3rd quarter. Nobody budged. The Cards did score in the 4th to tie it up. Then THE best moment in Louisville OT history happened. It involved a man named Henry. I hope you all take the time to watch this game and enjoy! I tried to bring you something to get you ready for this week; something to get you ready for the Football season. I hope you enjoy!
