Junior ILB CJ Avery, junior ILB Dorian Etheridge, redshirt senior OL Tyler Haycraft, and redshirt senior Blanton Creque were all selected as captains for the team.
Avery and Etheridge will likely be your starting duo in the middle of the linebacking corps for the Cards on Monday night. Etheridge was an ESPN Freshman All-American and has been a stalwart for the Louisville defense. In 2017, Etheridge led the team with 83 tackles and last year he had 55 tackles with 4 being tackles for loss. Avery was second on the team in tackles last year with 56 and actually led the team with two interceptions. Both players are likely to be the backbone of this iteration of the UofL defense.
Tyler Haycraft is a Louisville native, having played his high school ball at St. X. Originally a walkon, he earned himself a scholarship and is likely to start the Notre Dame game at RT.
Blanton Creque, out of Shelbyville, KY, has locked down the starting position at K ever since his redshirt freshman season. He’s been a very reliable K for the Cards. He’s made 84% of his career field goals with a career long of 48 yards. He has scored 253 points which is good for 6th all time at UofL.
